We at Blue Lights Digital are delighted to bring to you the TWO newest members of our team: Mark Laing and Paul Maskall!
Mark will be working in our Training & Investigations team in the role of Digital Media Tactical Specialist, and we are thrilled to have him on board.
With a strong career in the Police since 1999, Mark has experience in CID, covert policing, and investigating serious and organised crime.
In August 2014, Mark became Lancashire Police’s Cyber Crime Officer where he was the force lead for Cyber Crime, Cell-site Propagation Surveys, and writing digital strategies for major investigations.
“After almost two decades with Lancashire Police, I’m thrilled to be joining the team at Blue Lights Digital. My career has involved using digital evidence in cases ranging from drug conspiracies to complex murders, and I have seen first-hand the impact technology has had on both crime and investigation in the 21st century.
I know how valuable it can be to have specialist knowledge and support available, be that training or practical assistance, and I have always sought to advise and pass on my knowledge to others working in the field of digital and cyber related crime.
I am looking forward to being part of Blue Lights Digital’s drive to continually innovate and improve their response in the digital era.”
Mark’s extensive policing and training experience combined with his aptitude and passion for anything of a technical nature has meant he has flourished in the digital arena.
Mark now specialises in Router Forensics and CryptoCurrency investigation making him perfect to join our established team growing the services we provide to our clients.
Paul joins the team as our Cyber Security Tactical Specialist providing our clients with access to someone who is at the forefront of research and development in the field of digital and cyber-related crime.
Alongside undertaking a doctorate in Philosophy, Paul has conducted extensive research in Cyber Security, Risk Perception, GDPR and the Intangibility of Assurance!
Having both an academic and law enforcement background has given Paul in-depth experience in both the theoretical, policy and practical application of aspects such as Digital Identity, Data Protection, Information Security, Counter Terrorism and Open Source Intelligence.
“To be given the opportunity to work with Blue Lights Digital and be welcomed as part of the team is undeniably liberating.
To have the chance to apply both creativity and my research to practical applications for investigations and training is certainly an endeavour I greatly look forward to.”
Paul has recently been responsible for advising and engaging with the public, businesses and the safeguarding community in all manners of information security, data protection and online safety.
Paul’s love for the deeper aspects of the cyber world and his background in lecturing in academia and as a professional public speaker means he is a perfect fit in the Blue Lights Digital team. In the coming weeks we will be announcing new services accessible to our clients including cyber response and GDPR consulting services.
Welcome to the team!
